In the early hours of September 27, 2024, Folakemi took to Instagram to respond to allegations made by a social media personality, which have since sparked controversy.

On September 24, 2024, Verydarkman accused Falz and his father, Femi Falana, of helping Bobrisky drop money laundering charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In her post, Folakemi reaffirmed her family’s dedication to justice and integrity, highlighting their long-standing history of advocating for Nigerians, free of charge, for presidential pardons.

“My parents and our firm, Falana & Falana, have been applying for presidential pardons for Nigerians absolutely free long before many of you were born,” she wrote, referencing two specific cases from 2016 and 2022.

She expressed her frustration at the public’s reaction to the allegations, stating, “It’s unfortunate that some Nigerians act like they can’t read or think for themselves… It’s even crazier that a character like VDM can accuse my dad and Falz of bribery, corruption, and perversion of justice, and people suddenly forget who they are and what they stand for.”

Folakemi also clarified the specific accusations regarding Bobrisky:

  • Her father has never met or spoken with Bobrisky, either directly or through an intermediary.
  • Bobrisky reached out to Falz, like he did with other celebrities, asking for financial assistance to afford VIP prison accommodations, but never discussed a presidential pardon.
  • Neither Falz nor her father had any reason to believe Bobrisky’s request was anything but genuine.

She concluded by stating, “To be crystal clear, my family or our firm has never been involved in any presidential pardon for Bobrisky,” and issued a legal warning to Verydarkman, saying, “See you in court.”

Folakemi reiterated her disappointment, adding, “The fact that some of you believe this is mind-blowing.”
