Nigerian singer Portable has responded to criticism following an incident in which he slapped a preacher outside his bar in Ogun State last week. The altercation, which took place on September 9, 2024, was broadcast live on Instagram. It showed Portable confronting and hitting the preacher for allegedly disturbing his customers.

On September 16, 2024, Portable addressed the backlash via Instagram, revealing that prior to the incident, a person dressed as a pastor had attacked his sister. He claimed that the preacher in question was part of a setup.

“They want to set me up. He was not a man of God, and if he was, may God forgive me for slapping him. If I knew he was real, I wouldn’t have done it,” Portable explained. He went on to apologize, admitting, “I’m a human being, and I’m not perfect.”

The singer had angrily confronted the preacher during his live stream, accusing him of disrupting his business. He questioned, “Why are you doing this? Are you crazy?” before slapping him and chasing him away, further stating that such actions harmed his bar’s operations.

Despite his apology, the incident has sparked significant backlash across social media.
